“Ungerman”, a true sports champion
Hansgrohe is sponsoring Daniel Unger. His event is the sprint triathlon: 400 m swim, 20 km cycle and 5 km run. During his sporting career, the qualified gas fitter and plumber has broken many records. In 2007, at the World Championships in Hamburg, he topped off his string of successes by winning the title of “World Champion”. Wherever the likeable Swabian swims, cycles and runs, you could say that Hansgrohe attempts to “smooth the waters” for him. After all, water is our greatest passion.
“Nowhere else do you find joy and sorrow, or triumph and defeat as close to each other as you do in the world of elite sport.”
Daniel Unger was born on 22/03/1978 in Ravensburg in Upper Swabia. His passion for the triathlon was first ignited in 1990; he has been a professional triathlete since 2004. These days, Daniel lives at home with his family in Bad Saulgau and spends his time competing with Ulm triathletes, getting involved in sporting issues and helping up-and-coming young talent get fit. “The World Championship title opened lots of doors for me”, said Daniel Unger. “It was a great day in my sporting career and a moment that I will never forget. This race changed my life. The title of “World Champion” is mine for ever. It's something that I can use as my calling card for the rest of my life.”
“In Hansgrohe I have a partner that stands by me during the successful times and the difficult times too.”
Since 2012, Daniel has organised the Hansgrohe Triathlon in Konstanz for his sponsor. Hansgrohe employees also compete at this annual sporting event: in the special category “EisenHans”. Professional partners of the Black Forest bathroom specialists, known as “iClub customers”, also compete at the “SHK Triathlon” in Konstanz. In the run-up to the competition, “Ungerman” gets the Hansgrohe workforce and specialist partners up to speed during some intensive trial training.
The triathlon champion is also involved in Hansgrohe's health management programme. Under the motto “Less is more”, he helps employees get in trim – with a sophisticated nutrition and sports programme. He works actively in this area together with javelin world champion Christina Obergföll. Last but not least, Daniel also gets the Hansgrohe trainees moving – both physically and mentally.
