Bucking the trend: above-average, high training quota despite crisisSchiltach, August 31, 2009. While the economic crisis is also having an increasing impact on the German vocational training market, with the number of training positions in this country having declined by about eight percent compared with 2008 according to the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), Hansgrohe AG will increase the number of its trainees when the new vocational training year begins on September 1, 2009 to a total of 146, up by around four percent in comparison to last year. With the 38 young women and men who will be starting their vocational training with the bathroom fittings and shower specialist based in the Black Forest in September, the training quota at Hansgrohe AG will amount to 7.4 percent, significantly higher than the Germany-wide 5.5 percent average in the metal working industry. “Being an enterprise that is strong in the field of innovation and has a substantial vertical range of manufacture, practical training of specialists represents an investment in our future viability,” affirms Siegfried Gänßlen, CEO of Hansgrohe AG. “Accordingly, we adhere to our high level of commitment in the field of vocational training, even though dynamic growth does not appear to be on the cards owing to the financial markets and economic crisis. The primary issue here is not only to prevent an impending lack of skilled workers at an early stage; we also want to be prepared to get moving immediately as soon as the economy picks up again.” Click here for the detailed press information.
