Hansgrohe International

Schiltach, February 12, 2010. “With glowing hearts” is the official motto of this year’s Winter Olympics, staged in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada, which will be the center of attention for sports enthusiasts from around the world, starting this Friday and lasting until 28 February 2010. Along with the more than 5,000 athletes and their minders expected from over 80 countries, Hansgrohe AG (www.hansgrohe.com) will also be there to give their “lifeblood”. As an official partner of the German House, the bathroom fittings and sanitation technology specialist from the Black Forest supplied the two representative locations of the German Olympic Federation (DOSB) in Vancouver and its branch in Whistler with high-quality bathroom fittings.

Successful performance "Made in Germany"
“We are pleased and honored to be represented at the German House in Vancouver and its branch in Whistler as an official partner, and equally delighted to be able to contribute to the successful and attractive presentation of the German sports,” said Torsten Mayer, the man in charge of the company’s sports marketing. “Hansgrohe has always been an enthusiastic sports supporter. It will be all the more gratifying for us if our first-class products ‘Made in Germany’ can make a contribution, however small, to the wellbeing of the guests in the German House in Canada.”

In Vancouver, the venue for ice sports disciplines among other events, the DOSB is setting up camp on a 1,000-square meter area at Simon Fraser University. For this site, the functionaries opted for Metris Electronic wash basin mixers made by Hansgrohe. At Whistler, the venue for the skiing and bobsled events, the brach of the German House will be located at the Nicklaus North Golf Club. The guests expected from politics, business and the media will enjoy the minimalist, elegant designs of the wash basin mixers of the Axor Starck collection, developed by the Black Forest-based bathroom and sanitation specialist in collaboration with star designer Philippe Starck.

Showering and winter sports belong together
The fact that showering and winter sports are closely linked is also confirmed by a representative survey of 1,000 people commissioned by Hansgrohe AG at the end of January 2010. According to the survey, when the majority of the German winter sports fans leave the ski or tobogganing runs, they like to head straight for the shower, rather than the après ski: 58 percent prefer to take a refreshing, relaxing shower, and only eleven percent like to be drawn to the lodge for mulled wine, flirting, socializing and dancing. When taking a shower after engaging in winter sports activities, the desire for relaxation (54 percent), refreshment (39 percent) and body care (39 percent) ranks foremost. Only 15 percent of the people in the survey cited hygiene as their main concern when taking a shower.
